Mahesh Harhare

He has 21+ years of experience in advisory services, with a focus on program, project, and business management for government, multilateral, and private-sector clients.

His expertise covers public policy, urban planning and development, urban water and sanitation, wastewater reuse, PPP, project finance, urban mobility, climate change and resilience, climate adaptation and mitigation, rural development and international partnerships.

He has held senior leadership positions for 15 years at global organisations such as C40, WRI India, The Rockefeller Foundation and GIZ.

His key clientele includes ADB, IFC, WB, the European Union’s EU-IUC in India, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), GIZ, The Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, Bloomberg Philanthropies, various state governments, departments of the Government of India and over 30 Urban Local Bodies in India.

He has directed climate resilience initiatives across climate policy, city climate action planning, adaptation and mitigation, and successful project development and funding.

He has overseen climate action planning in 20 cities.
He excels at managing complex projects that demand strategic problem-solving, creativity,
high energy, and a positive attitude.

Additionally, he has substantial experience working with private-sector clients in the urban sector.

He has also led projects to develop entry strategies, conduct market assessments, undertake feasibility studies for private-sector clients, and facilitate the development of
public-private partnerships (PPPs).

Mahesh is a civil engineer with a Master’s in Town & Country Planning.

He has also done the Executive Program in Business Management from IIM Calcutta.
