Ashish Verma is an urban sustainability, climate action and urban finance professional with over 18 years of experience working with cities, government institutions, international organisations and development partners.
He serves as Country Coordinator for India under the European Union-funded International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) Asia & Australasia programme and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM).
His expertise includes sustainable urban development, climate mitigation and adaptation, urban resilience, greenhouse gas inventories and MRV frameworks, climate action planning, project development and climate finance.
He also facilitates international city-to-city cooperation, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and partnerships among local governments, businesses, and technical institutions.
Ashish has supported Indian and international cities in developing climate strategies, identifying innovative and fundable projects, strengthening institutional frameworks and translating policy priorities into practical urban solutions.
He is committed to advancing scalable, inclusive and locally relevant approaches that help cities become more sustainable, resilient and liveable.
Ashish has double master’s degrees- in Economics and Energy & Climate as well.
